The School of Library and Information Science at CUA offers a class with a practicum experience in a local institution. I met with my first practicum student (of two students) today to discuss her project. She will be working on the School of Music audio recordings inventory (for at least two formats), will compile a departmental history, and will be learning how to spot deterioration, and how to perform basic preventative preservation.
I meet with my second practicum student tomorrow. She will be processing a photograph collection (Fred J. Maroon Photograph Collection, a CUA Alumni and famous photographer), learning processing rules, and photographic preservation, handling, and storage.
